# The public event page

> What guests see at your event's URL, how the registration button changes, and where published events are listed.

Your event's public page lives at `cal.com/<event-slug>`.

## What the page shows

* The cover image, title, and description
* The date and time, in the viewer's local time
* The location, or a note that it is revealed after registration
* The hosts
* The guest section, according to your **Public guests** setting
* A registration button

The page can also show scarcity messages, such as how many spots are left or **Near capacity**.

## The registration button

The button changes with the situation:

| What the button says | When |
| - | - |
| **Register** | The standard state |
| **Register in one click** | A signed-in Cal.com user, on an event with no extra registration questions, no approval, and no captcha |
| **Request to join** | Approval is required |
| **Join waitlist** | The event is full and the waitlist is on |
| **Sold out** | The event is full and there is no waitlist |
| **Get your ticket** | A paid event |

Returning guests see their own state instead: **You're going**, **Pending approval**, or **You're on the waitlist**. As the host, you see **You're hosting, manage event**.

When the event has ended, has already started, or was cancelled, the page says so and registration is closed.

### Register with iMessage

Guests can also register from their phone without typing an email address. On events that offer it, a **Register with iMessage** button appears next to **Register**. If the event needs your approval, it says **Request with iMessage** instead.

![Public event page with the Register with iMessage button highlighted next to Register](https://mintcdn.com/calcomhelp/zgENmENguxbEVYDl/images/events/register-with-imessage.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=zgENmENguxbEVYDl\&q=85\&s=7e534e5661c47ddd4262e0ed0786fb49)

How it works for the guest:

1. On an iPhone, iPad or Mac, the button opens Messages with a text already filled in. On other devices it shows a QR code, and scanning it with a phone opens the same message.
2. The guest sends the text. The reply asks for their name, then which location they want if the event has more than one, then any required registration questions, one at a time. If you show guest names publicly, it also asks whether they want to appear on the guest list.
3. They're registered, their request is sent to you for approval, or they join the waitlist, just as with the form. The event page shows the result, and the last text includes the date, time and event link. For confirmed guests it also includes the location details.

That final text is their confirmation. Guests who register this way appear on your roster with their phone number and don't get emails, including [messages you send to guests](https://cal.com/help/events/manage-guests.md#message-your-guests).

**When the button isn't shown**

* The event is paid, or any location has a price.
* The registration form has more than six required questions, or a required question that can't be answered in one text, such as an address.
* The guest has already registered, or you're viewing your own event.
* Registration is closed.

**Guests with a Cal.com account**

If the guest is signed in when they tap the button, the registration is added to their account. If they're signed out, it's added to the account that has verified that phone number on its profile, or that has linked the number to the Cal.com assistant in iMessage. If that account is already registered for the event, the guest is told their current status instead of being registered twice.

## What guests should know

* Guests do not need a Cal.com account to register.
* Only one registration per email address per event. Trying again shows that they are already registered.
* Registrants get a personal status link to view or manage their registration.

## Guests can cancel their own registration

Once registered, guests see **Cancel registration** under their status on the event page and in their registration confirmation. It is offered to confirmed guests, guests waiting for approval, and guests on the waitlist.

Guests are asked to confirm with **Cancel your registration?**. When they confirm:

* Their spot is released, so someone else can take it.
* Any payment that was captured is refunded.
* Workflows for that registration stop, and the guest gets an email confirming they were removed.
* The guest can register again later if registration is still open.

Guests can't cancel once the event has started, or after they've been checked in. The option is no longer shown then.

## Share the event

The **Share event** dialog gives you the link and a QR code, which is useful for posters and slides.

## Where published events are listed

Published events appear in public per-profile event directories:

* `cal.com/<username>/events`
* `cal.com/team/<team-slug>/events`
* `cal.com/org/<orgSlug>/<username>/events`

Each lists that profile's public events.

To keep a specific event out of that listing, turn on the **Private event** toggle. The event stays reachable by its direct link but does not appear in the directory.

> [!NOTE]
>
> This is separate from the public profile visibility toggle used for Links, which does not apply to events.

## Embedding

You can embed the event page on your own website, so visitors register without leaving your site.

Open the event in the editor and click the **Embed** (`</>`) button in the header. The button only appears on desktop-width screens, and only when the event is published and not cancelled — draft events don't have a public page to embed yet.

The dialog offers three snippet types:

* **Inline** — the event page renders inside your page, in an iframe wherever you paste the snippet.
* **Floating pop-up button** — a floating button on your site that opens the event in a pop-up.
* **Pop up via element click** — the event opens in a pop-up when a visitor clicks an element you choose on your page.

Each type gives you a code snippet to paste into your site.

Visitors see the same public event page inside the frame — the cover, date and time in their local timezone, the guest section, and the registration button — and register from there as usual. Registration inside an embedded event works the same way as on the public page.

When you view your own embedded event, you see a **You're hosting this event** note.

> [!NOTE]
>
> There is no Email embed for events — that option exists only for booking event types.
